Walnut Hills GID is able to replace 100% of the remaining wood fence! This is an exciting opportunity to update and improve the current fence and maintain the integrity of the neighborhood perimeter. Due to long standing legal concerns, additional maintenance on the existing wood fence will not and cannot be performed without having an easement. Easements have been prepared for all homeowners on the perimeter and sent USPS to those properties in need of an easement the last week of December 2025. If you have any questions or concerns, please see the Walnut Hills Fence Easement FAQs sheet or contact the GID Project Manager with the information provided in the package.
FAQs
What does an easement entail?
An easement gives a person or entity a legal right to use someone else’s
land. In this case, an easement would give the Walnut Hills General
Improvement District the right to enter a portion of a property owner’s lot for
purposes including fence maintenance, replacement and repair.
What benefits will I receive by signing an easement?
The easement will allow the Walnut Hills General Improvement District
(WHGID) to maintain a portion of the fence on the property.
Will I receive any compensation for signing the easement?
Each property owner will receive a one-time payment of $10.00 as
consideration for conveying the easement to the WHGID.
What if I don’t want to sign it?
If a homeowner with WHGID fencing on their private property does not want
to sign the easement, the WHGID unfortunately will be unable to maintain,
replace or repair that portion of the fence as it will not legally be allowed work
on the fence.
Am I giving up a portion of my property interest by signing the easement?
You are not giving up title to your property. If you sign the easement, the City
(WHGID) will acquire a limited property interest to locate and protect the
fence, and to access a portion of the property for fence related construction
or maintenance purposes.
What if I need help understanding the language in the proposed easement?
