Donna Senn
Position: Member-at-Large
Family: My husband David and sons Adam and William.
About my family: I am the owner of Integrated Home Design and I
specialize in Floor and Window coverings at affordable prices. I also volunteer where and
when I am needed (I have met some of the best people this way). David works for
Continental Airlines. His family moved to Walnut Hills in 1970 and he was one of the first
4th graders at the newly built Walnut Hills Elementary. David and I moved
to Walnut Hills in 1993 and enrolled our first son Adam (AJ) in preschool at Walnut Hills
Elementary. Adam is now a student at Metro State College majoring in Health and
Sports Education. Our second son William has only known one house and one
neighborhood, and it seems like everyone knows who he is since he was a stroller baby.
Will is now in 7th grade at Campus Middle School.
Present Occupation: I stay busy selling carpet and window coverings but my new
endeavor is helping people get their houses ready for sale.
Time in WH/previous location: I was born and raised in Omaha, NE and moved out here in
May of 1979. Before David and I moved to WH, we owned our first home in Highlands Ranch
between 1986 to 1993.
Why WH: When Adam was close to school age, we wanted to move closer to Davids
father, who still lived in Walnut Hills. Being in the Cherry Creek School District was a
big bonus; David had gone to WH Elementary and we wanted Adam to have the same experience.
Changes that have happened in WH: WOW, where do I start? The one thing I remember was all the Mom and Pop stores: the hardware store next to Safeway, the old Hugh M Woods, Arapahoe Movie Theatre. I loved and miss Southglenn Mall. Can you believe we are now the City of Centennial? I remember not so long ago you could write Walnut Hills, CO on a letter and the postman knew where that was. I think we are a beautiful fenced community and we show our pride through our community activities. On my block we all know each other and watch out for each other.
Concerns/hopes for WH: Lets make sure the City of Centennial never forgets our little community. We need to put our 2 cents in and stay informed about all the changes happening. Owners and renters alike are happy to be here; we picked this neighborhood, so lets show everyone around us that we are a model of a close knit community and that we take care of our neighbors, our schools, our houses and yards. I know that when I travel around the metropolitan area for business, I realize we have it pretty good here in Walnut Hills. Tell your friends and families we are ready to welcome them with open arms.
